Order fee (Ordergebühr)

The fee your bank or broker charges for executing a buy or sell order.

In short

As of 5 October 2026

An order fee is what your bank or broker charges to execute a buy or sell order. It can include a commission, exchange fees and a third-party cost charge. Buy 200 euros worth of stock with a 10 euro fee and your costs are 5 percent before the stock has moved at all. Comparing pays off, especially for small amounts.

Every purchase and sale can carry costs: a broker commission, exchange fees and sometimes a flat third-party charge. Together they make up the order fee.

The range is wide. Traditional high-street banks in Germany often charge a double-digit amount per order; online brokers and neobrokers often just a few euros.

Example: you buy 200 euros of stock and pay a 10-euro fee. That is 5 % in costs, so the stock has to rise 5 % before you are in profit. With small amounts, comparing costs really matters.
