What does Tesla do?

Tesla, based in Austin, Texas, builds electric cars such as the Model Y and Model 3. The Model Y is also made at its plant near Berlin. It also sells large batteries for the power grid and the Powerwall for homes. CEO Elon Musk wants future profits to come mainly from self-driving robotaxis and humanoid robots. So far, that brings in very little revenue.

Where you know it from

  • Energy storage is growing quickly while car sales are weak.
  • Deep experience in software, batteries and data from millions of miles driven.

Risks

  • Revenue fell 3% in 2025, and cheaper EVs, especially from China, add pressure.
  • The share price leans heavily on future promises and on Elon Musk himself.
  • The stock is very volatile, plus there is dollar risk for euro investors.
